    • Hi JL! Thanks for your question. Elephants are mammals. One characteristic of mammals is nursing – mothers produce milk that their babies suckle. It’s an important part of growth for the infants. So yes, as infants, elephants do drink their mother’s milk. However, they stop after they reach a certain age as a kid, unlike many humans, who continue to drink milk taken from other species. Elephants only drink milk from their mom – not from cows like humans!
